A Design Observer Symposium on Food and Visual Culture

Nathan Sharp is a Texas bred, San Francisco based designer. He was a military brat, a homeschooler, and a high school state-champion. He graduated from a small private university in Texas with a BFA in graphic design, quit design, and spent two years backpacking around Europe and Asia and teaching English in South Korea. In 2009, he moved to San Francisco with a backpack and a guitar. Over the next six years, through persistent good fortune, he found himself working alongside design luminaries Jennifer Jerde, Eric Heiman, Yves Behar and Christopher Simmons. In 2010, he cofounded the moonlit design studio Mammals with designer Jamie Lee, which they operated together until 2014. Today, Nathan is a a visual designer at Twilio, a web communications company, and lives aboard an historic wooden fishing boat in Sausalito.
