Savinien Caracostea is an architect, pastry chef and cultural entrepreneur, whose focus lies at the intersection of food, cities, art, and social phenomena. He has degrees in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and from Cornell University, and a degree in Pastry Arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York City.
Caracostea produces Mentor Minds—an ongoing video series of short interviews with inspiring creative practitioners—and participated last summer as a curator for “Feeding the Accelerator”, the innovation program of the USA Pavilion at Milan’s EXPO 2015. In 2012, he organized “Architecture of Taste” an event and accompanying publication (which brought the renowned pastry chef Pierre Herméto the Harvard Graduate School of Design). Most recently, he served as guest editor for the Summer 2015 issue of Log—a celebrated architecture and urbanism academic journal—on the topic of food.
